Privacy Policy

1. Account and profile information

LoopIn stores the name, circle name, and any photo you choose to add for yourself and the people you loop in. This information syncs privately across your own devices through your iCloud account; we do not operate a separate LoopIn account server.

2. Usernames and public profiles

If you host or join a public walk, your display name and, if you’ve added one, your photo may be shown to other LoopIn users viewing that walk. Do not include information in your profile that you aren’t comfortable showing to people outside your Circle.

3. Contacts and invitations

If you choose to add someone from your device’s contacts to your Circle, LoopIn reads only the contact you select, one at a time, to prefill their name — it does not import, upload, or store your full contact list.

4. Approximate and precise location data

LoopIn uses your device’s location, with your permission, to center the Discover map, estimate distance during a walk, and let you choose a meeting point when hosting. Circle-only walks show an approximate location to people outside the Circle; a walk’s exact meeting point requires appropriate visibility — public walks show their real location, while private details are limited to the people who need them.

5. Walking routes and event meeting points

A route you record or a route a host draws for a walk is stored so the app can display it on the map and to people considering joining. Personal walking routes for your own loops are not shown on any public map.

6. Attendance and check-in information

LoopIn keeps a record of your own show-ups so your Circle can see participation over time, and a host may keep a private note about attendance for a walk they organized. This information is not used to automatically restrict your account, and is not shared outside the relevant Circle or host.

7. Health and activity data

If you choose to connect Apple Health, LoopIn can read walking minutes, distance, and steps, and can save a completed loop as a walking workout. This data stays under Apple Health’s own permission controls, and declining it does not prevent you from using LoopIn.

8. Device and usage information

Like most apps, LoopIn may process basic device and usage information needed to run the app reliably, such as app version and general performance data.

9. Analytics

LoopIn does not currently use a third-party analytics platform. If that changes, this policy will be updated to describe what is collected and why.

10. Crash reports

If you’ve opted in through your device settings, Apple may share crash and diagnostic reports with app developers, including LoopIn, to help fix bugs. These reports are handled according to Apple’s own diagnostic-sharing settings.

11. App-store purchases

LoopIn Plus, where offered, is billed by the Apple App Store. Apple processes payment directly; LoopIn does not receive or store your full payment details.

12. Public versus private event visibility

A public walk is visible to LoopIn users nearby. A Circle-only walk is visible to everyone on the map for general awareness, but its exact location and the ability to request to join are limited to your Circle’s invited members.

13. Data sharing

We do not sell your personal information. Information about a public walk is shared with other LoopIn users as part of how Discover works. A report you file about a walk is reviewed by us and is not shared with the host or other users.

14. Third-party services

LoopIn relies on Apple services — iCloud/CloudKit for sync and the Discover marketplace, and Apple Maps for location search and walking directions — to operate. These providers process data under their own privacy terms.

15. Data retention

Your personal data stays in your own iCloud account for as long as you use LoopIn. Deleting the app or your account removes local data from that device; data already synced to your other signed-in devices follows the same iCloud sync behavior until it clears from each device.

16. Data security

LoopIn relies on Apple’s platform security and encrypted iCloud sync rather than a LoopIn-operated server for personal data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

17. Your choices and permissions

You control location, contacts, health, notification, and photo permissions through your device’s Settings app, and can change them at any time. Turning off a permission may limit related features, such as showing nearby walks or drawing a route.

18. Account deletion

You can remove your circle and local data from a device from within the app’s settings, or by deleting the app. Contact support@tryloopin.com if you need help completing a deletion request.

19. Children’s privacy

LoopIn is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

20. International processing

Because LoopIn relies on Apple’s global iCloud infrastructure, your information may be processed in a country other than where you live. [Placeholder: add specific regional disclosures — for example GDPR or CCPA details — once determined with legal counsel.]

21. Policy updates

We may update this policy as LoopIn’s features change. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “last updated” date above.
